How Drinking Water Can Help You Lose Weight!
Water is the source of life. While everyone knows the importance that water has on our lives, few people know the importance it plays in the process of losing weight. A glass of water before each meal is not only good for the skin and the overall vitally of the body; it is also a key element in losing weight.
Water Helps with Weight Loss
The benefits of water are more important than some people believe. In recent years, many studies have linked water to weight loss. Drinking a glass of water before a meal 2-3 times a day has led people to consume fewer calories, eventually helping them lose weight faster. The science behind this discovery is fairly straightforward: water fills the stomach and provides it with a sense of fullness which prevents people from eating too many calories. A study that was done concluded that people drinking a glass of water before each meal lost more weight than people not drinking water.
The Study Done
Though a few studies have been done on this subject, one of the most ground-breaking studies was performed in the state of Virginia in the United States on 45 adults aged between 55 and 75. Half of them were assigned to drink water before meals while the other half were assigned not to. What they found out, after 12 weeks, was that people that drank a glass of water 2-3 times a day lost about 4.5lbs more than the people that did not drink water. Not only were the first half able to lose more weight; they were also exposed to the many health benefits that water has in the process.
No More Fizzy Drinks
Everyone knows the terrible effect fizzy drinks have on the body. Numerous researches have been conducted over the last decades proving this point. If people stopped drinking fizzy drinks and instead hydrated themselves with water, the average weight of American people would certainly decline dramatically. Water is the best liquid people can put in their body but sadly, the average person does not consume enough of it. Even being slightly dehydrated impairs someone's abilities. Dehydration is heavily linked to fatigue and an overall decrease of energy.
Other Health Benefits
There are more to water health benefits than simply helping someone lose weight. Water, for one, keeps the skin hydrated and looking good. This is especially helpful if someone suffers from dry skin. Internally, water helps with digestion and reduces the risk of bladder cancer by diluting cancer-bearing agents in the urine. It also alleviates headaches and menstrual cramps. Overall, water makes a person feel refreshed and energized, helping them go through a day feeling productive and happy.
Water should be one of the key elements for more people trying to lose weight. It is, after all, what keeps us alive. If a person is unable to start drinking at least 3 glasses of water before a meal, it is better for them to start slowly and replace at least one of their normal drinks with water.
