Today sees the first day of the world-famous Cheltenham Festival in the very county where we are headquartered! A true spectacle in every sense of the horse racing calendar.
Did you know that between 60 and 70% of a racehorse's bodyweight consists of water? And just like us, racehorses need to drink enough water because insufficient water can contribute to poor health and performance. The average racehorse drinks between 20 and 40 litres (5-10 gallons) a day, depending on the air temperature, activity level, and whether the racehorse’s main diet is grass or hay.
Clean water
Water can carry bacteria or viruses, so the water supply must be clean and changed regularly; just as it should be in a well-sanitised water cooler or fountain. Stabled racehorses may need more water because they are often eating dry feed.
The amount of water a horse needs depends on their diet, workload and sweating rate, as well as the environmental temperature and humidity. It is essential that clean water is always available.
From the racecourse back to the workplace where we all need access to fresh, clean drinking water that tastes great and quenches our thirst. Chilled and filtered water from plumbed in water coolers and fountains keeps your team in tip-top performance. Good hydration boosts performance and concentration.
Refill and reuse
A
plumbed-in water cooler helps save single-use plastic. Over 7.7 billion single-use plastic drinks bottles are bought in the UK every year and contribute to the plastic pollution issue that pollutes the planet. A staggering 57% are not recycled and end up in landfill, the environment, and the beaches and oceans. So help turn off the plastic tap and refill a reusable bottle, such as Chilly’s or a SHO, that keep hot drinks hot for 12 hours and cold water chilled for 24!
Achieve better health and more balanced blood sugar levels by reducing the number of fizzy or sugary drinks with chilled water infused with mint, herbs, and lots of fruit. And if you are enjoying a drink or two at the Festival be sure to rehydrate after the winning post!
We know that winners work harder! If you are visiting Cheltenham this week or watching from afar, enjoy this great sporting spectacle.
