How to clean your reusable bottle
The refill revolution has never been stronger. In these tough times and when a lot of us are working from home, hygiene is at the front of our minds for most of the time. As well as washing hands frequently and using anti-bac on shared surfaces we must also take care of our office space essentials.

Don’t worry if you don't have a dishwasher, you really only need three items to clean a reusable cup or bottle -- hot water, liquid detergent and a bottle brush. If your bottle hasn't been cleaned in a while and you are worried about build up so you could use a detergent tablet.
Water bottles and reusable cups go with us out and about on public transport, in lifts escalators, and other populated areas especially if you are still going into your place of work. Outside the home the reusables are exposed to dirt and germs that more likely transfer to our hands first and then the bottle.
Bacteria and viruses can collect on the outside, the lid, and the drinking spouts and as we are unsure how long the viruses can survive on hard surfaces it is best practice to wash your bottle daily.
Filtered water is best
Unfiltered tap water may contain other bacteria and microbes, which can grow inside the water bottle over time. If you're drinking sports drinks, juices, coffee in your bottles, those are even more likely to grow bacteria. So, refill with filtered and chilled water if you can. Not only is it safer it tastes great and encourages us to drink more. When we drink, it is perfectly natural that some of our own mouth bacteria and saliva end up back in the bottle which is why we should rinse thoroughly and clean the vessel every day.
