How to clean your water cooler
As the summer comes to an end and the kids are returning to school, we often adopt that ‘spring clean’ feeling in an effort to tidy up and refresh our environments at the turn of the season.
The same is true at work. We start September with a spring in our step and a positive mind revisiting our eating habits, and drinking, in a shift to get ready for the autumn months ahead.
So there is no better time following the heat of the summer than now, to give your water cooler some TLC. It’s so easy to look after a cooler. They are very reliable and low maintenance and with some occasional sanitisation will continue to provide you with fine tasting, pristine drinking water for many years.
However, as with any appliance, there are things you can and should do to ensure the optimum performance of your cooler.
Top tips for a cleaner cooler
- Always keep it clean. It’s a good idea to keep the outside of your cooler clean and sparkly. It only takes a minute with an antibacterial wipe to keep it looking like new!
- Sanitise your cooler regularly: every 6 months it is recommended that the cooler is sanitised. Simply flush a sanitising fluid through the water cooler clears the system of any harmful bacteria to ensure your water continues to taste great. Our handy ‘sani’ kits are easily available.
- Change the filters within the cooler at the correct intervals: filters have an average life span of 6 months and so will need changing twice yearly. It’s easy to change a filter and can be done in just a few minutes. We can send you a replacement filter from stock when you need it.
- Empty and clean the drip tray regularly: to prevent dirt build up and water leaking from your cooler, simply remove and empty the drip tray. It only takes a minute to do!
- From time-to-time check that the pipe connections are good: have a quick look around the water cooler and look at the pipe connections to ensure the water cooler is performing at its best.
